The modern metallurgical industry uses the latest developments and materials to produce quality foundry products. One of the production stages requires use of the compound, calcium aluminate, which you can buy from us. In recent years, it has been used in the form of briquettes and fine powder.
Briquette composition:
# | Element | Percentage |
---|---|---|
1 | Al2O3 | 30-40% |
2 | Al met. | до 5% |
2 | CaO | 30-35% |
2 | Si02 | до 5% |
2 | Mgo | 10% |
2 | TiO2 | до 10% |
The briquette composition and size can be adjusted at the customer’s request.
The role of calcium aluminate in metal casting
An important condition to obtain a quality metallurgical product is the control of slag movement that accompanies the alloy. It is important to achieve the new slag formation during secondary processing. Several complex chemicals are used for this purpose. Calcium aluminate is one of them, which is involved in the following processes:
- Highly reactive slag formation.
- Sulfur neutralization in ladle furnaces. (The optimum desulfurization is achieved when calcium aluminate is saturated with metallurgical lime).
It is also used in metal production with high hydrogen susceptibility, for example, steel plate.
In this case, calcium aluminate forms a slag coating that prevents the melt from coming into contact with air. A chemical reaction probability with the coating layer, which includes oxide compounds of acidic pH reaction, is reduced as well.
Advantage of briquettes
The pressed material technology is one of the best developments for production of binding inorganic compounds required in metallurgical production.
The growing interest of manufacturers in briquetted material is no coincidence. This type of product significantly saves on energy costs and reduces the adverse environmental impact. Which makes it environmentally friendly.
State-of-the-art equipment is used to produce metallurgical briquettes.
Briquettes are in the shape of:
- «dumplings» — 40x40 mm.
Handy shape enables products to be packed compactly. That increases the efficiency of handling operations and transportation significantly. Briquettes are packed in big-bags of 1 ton each with a polyethylene liner to prevent moisture.
Briquetted calcium aluminate is a low-toxic substance that is not harmful to people and not damaging to the environment. Such materials belong to hazard class IV, i.e., they do not have a negative impact on the human body.
